Your CC girls varsity basketball team opened up their 2021-22 season at home vs CD East in the opening round of the Cedar Cliff Tip-off Classic. The team came out fast and opened up a 25 – 6 first quarter lead and never looked back. The team ended up winning by a score of 74 – 20.
Sydney Weyant led the team in scoring with 17 points (5 – 3 pointers), pulled down 4 rebounds, had 2 steals and a block. Taylor Ferraro added 14 points, led the team in steals with 6 and dished out 2 assists. Ryan Kaercher chipped in with 13 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals. Kathryn Sansom added 7 points, was co-leader in rebounds with 6, recorded 3 steals and 1 massive block! Emily Ford also had 7 points, grabbed 4 rebounds and 3 steals. Olivia Jones chipped in with 5 points, led the team in assists with 4, and was co-leader in rebounds with 6. Jaelyn Brown added 4 points and a steal. Meghan Schraeder chipped in with 3 points and had 2 rebounds. Sam Reilly contributed 2 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists, and 3 steals. Kallie Gillen wrapped up the Colt scoring with 2 points.

Your Lady Colts faced off with a tough Spring Grove team in the championship game of the Cedar Cliff Tip-off Classic. The team came away victorious with a convincing 59 – 32 win. It was a total team effort on both ends of the floor.
Olivia Jones led the way with 13 points, while grabbing 7 rebounds and dishing out 2 assists. Taylor Ferraro added 9 points, 6 rebounds and 2 steals. Ryan Kaercher also scored 9 points and pulled down 5 rebounds. Sam Reilly added 8 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists. Meghan Schraeder led the team in rebounds with 10 and also chipped in with 6 points. Sydney Weyant finished her night with 6 points, 2 rebounds and 2 steals. Kathryn Sansom led the team in assists with 3 and also scored 4 points. Emily Ford contributed 4 points and 4 rebounds. Bryn Cravener finished the Colt scoring with 2 points and had a great defensive game.
Sydney Weyant was named to the All-Tournament team and Taylor Ferraro was named Tournament MVP!
The JV team had their first action of the season taking on Susquehanna Township in our tip-off classic. The team came away with a victory by a score of 48 – 15.
Jaelyn Brown led the team in points with 12, in rebounds with 10, and in blocks with 3. Ella Frey chipped in with 9 points (2 – 3 pointers), was co-leader in assists with 3, led the team in steals with 6 and pulled down 5 rebounds. Ava Buckwalter also scored 9 points (2 – 3 pointers), recorded 5 steals and 3 rebounds. Hope Joy added 6 points, 5 rebounds and 4 steals. Ciara Stump contributed 5 points, 2 rebounds and 2 steals. Kallie Gillen finished her night with 2 points, grabbed 5 rebounds, and 2 steals. Elizabeth Wiestling was co-leader in assists with 3, pulled down 5 rebounds, and scored 2 points. Natalie Hoffman finished the scoring with 2 points and recorded 2 steals. Eliose Billus finished her night with 3 rebounds, 1 steal and 1 assist.

Your Lady Colts traveled to divisional foe Mechanicsburg. The team showed heart and determination on the defensive end of the floor all night! Your Colts only allowed a talented Wildcat team 20 points on the night, while forcing 26 turnovers. The final score was Cedar Cliff 40 and Mechanicsburg 20.
Olivia Jones led the team in points with 23 and was co-leader in steals with 3. She also pulled down 4 rebounds. Taylor Ferraro chipped in with 5 points, had 2 steals and played exceptional defense on the Wildcat point guards. Sam Reilly led the team in rebounds with 5, had 2 steals and recorded 4 points. Ryan Kaercher was co-leader in steals with 3, grabbed 4 rebounds and played great defense on Mechanicsburg’s top forward. Kathryn Sansom added 4 points and 4 rebounds. Sydney Weyant chipped in with 3 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals. Bryn Cravener and Meghan Schraeder also had stellar nights defensively leading the team to victory!
Our JV team suffered their first loss of the season to Mechanicsburg last evening by a score of 35 – 39. After a slow start, the girls battled back to give themselves a chance to tie the game with just seconds remaining.
Ella Frey led the way with 8 points and also had a team high in rebounds with 6. Hope Joy led the team in steals with 3 and also scored 5 points. Kallie Gillen chipped in with 5 points and had 2 rebounds. Natalie Hoffman scored 4 points and dished out 2 assists. Elizabeth Wiestling and Ava Buckwalter each had 4 points, 1 rebound, and 1 steal. The Sentinel – Notes from Tuesday’s Mid-Penn Openers
Cedar Cliff, Northern and Harrisburg Academy – remained unbeaten with wins Tuesday. After capturing a tip-off tournament title on its home floor over the weekend, Cedar Cliff opened its Mid-Penn Keystone slate with a 40-20 win at Mechanicsburg. Olivia Jones paced the Colts (3-0 overall, 1-0 Keystone) with 23 points in their first outing away from their home floor. Their defense held the Wildcats (1-1, 0-1) to one field goal and eight total points in the second half.

Your Lady Colts hosted the Keystone division preseason #1 picked team, Mifflin County. Your Lady Colts team had another impressive night defensively by forcing the Huskies into 23 turnovers. Your Colts came away victorious by a score of 65 – 42.
Olivia Jones led the team in points with 20 (3 – 3 pointers) and in rebounds with 9. She also recorded 4 assists and 4 steals. Sydney Weyant added 13 points (3 – 3 pointers), 4 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals. Sam Reilly chipped in with 11 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 assists. Ryan Kaercher finished her night with 9 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 assists. Kathryn Sansom recorded 8 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals. Meghan Schraeder added 2 points, pulled down 3 rebounds, and 2 assists. Taylor Ferraro and Bryn Cravener had impressive nights on the defensive end of the floor in guarding Mifflin’s best player and preseason MVP pick of the Keystone division. Bryn also scored 2 points, while Taylor led the team in steals with 5 and had 4 assists and 3 rebounds.

The Sentinel – A 44-11 win at Palmyra Tuesday extended Cedar Cliff’s season-long unbeaten streak to 11 games. Taylor Ferraro led all scorers with 11 points. Sam Reilly scored eight, and Olivia Jones scored seven. The aggressive defense of the Colts (6-0 Keystone) helped Cedar Cliff outscore Palmyra 15-2 in the first quarter.

With a 28-22 win over visiting Lower Dauphin, Cedar Cliff captured the Mid-Penn Keystone Division title outright for the first time in program history.
The Colts (20-0, 13-0) did not hit a 3-point shot in the contest, but they held the Falcons (11-9, 7-6) to a season-low total matched only in Lower Dauphin’s season-opening 35-22 loss to Mount Saint Joseph Academy.

The two teams did not disappoint as neither team had more than a 5-point lead at any moment in the game. Your Colts finished off the Rams by a score of 32 – 28 and sealed an undefeated regular season!

Your Lady Colts took on Penn Manor in the quarterfinals of the District III 6A playoffs. The team faced a veteran Comets team but held a 6-point lead at the half. Your Colts extended that lead to 16 points at one point in the second half but Penn Manor fought back and cut the lead to 6 with 2:47 left in the game. Our players weathered the storm and finished strong beating the Comets by a score of 42 – 33.
Sydney Weyant led the team in scoring with 14 points (1 – 3pointer) and grabbed 4 rebounds. Olivia Jones led the team in rebounds with 15, in assists with 7 and scored 12 points, while holding the Rams leading scorer to 7 points. Sam Reilly added 10 points and 2 rebounds. Ryan Kaercher chipped in with 4 points and 4 rebounds. Taylor Ferraro finished her night with 6 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 steals, 2 points and held the Rams second leading scorer to 6 points. Meghan Schraeder, Bryn Cravener and Kathryn Sansom each contributed quality minutes to help pull out the victory.
The 25th win secures the most wins by any Cedar Cliff girls basketball team in school history.

Your Lady Colts took on Central Dauphin in the semi-finals of the District III 6A playoffs. The team faced the Rams for the third time in 3 weeks. The first two meetings went to our Colts but this game ended in a half-court buzzer beater by Central Dauphin for the win 38 – 41. Our Lady Colts fought to the very end and left it all on the court!
Olivia Jones led the team in scoring with 15 points (11 – 14 free throws) and in rebounds with 10. Ryan Kaercher added 9 points and 3 rebounds. Taylor Ferraro chipped in with 6 points and 6 rebounds. Sydney Weyant led the team in steals with 3 and finished with 6 points (2 – 3 pointers). Sam Reilly added 2 points and 3 rebounds. Bryn Cravener pulled in 2 rebounds and gave a great defensive effort. Ryan, Meghan Schraeder and Kathryn Sansom battled all night defensively against the Rams 6’3” and 6’2” post players.

Your Lady Colts hosted Dallastown in the 3rd place game of the District III 6A playoffs. The team came out sluggish after their tough game on Tuesday and fell behind 6 – 7 after the first quarter. They bounced back in the second quarter and went into halftime up 17 – 10. The second half turned out to be a very physical battle and your Lady Colts prevailed by a score of 37 – 32. The win secured them a 3rd place finish in districts and a first-round home game in the PIAA State Playoffs!
Olivia Jones led the team in scoring with 13 points (6 – 10 free throws), in rebounds with 9 and also recorded 2 steals. Taylor Ferraro added 8 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 steals. Sam Reilly also scored 8 points and pulled in 4 rebounds. Meghan Schraeder chipped in with 6 points and 2 rebounds. Sydney Weyant finished her night with 2 points, 2 assists and 2 blocks, while holding the Wildcats 2nd leading scorer to 1 point. Ryan Kaercher led the team in assists with 4, grabbed 5 rebounds and had 2 blocks. Bryn Cravener, Emily Ford and Kathryn Sansom each contributed key plays to secure the victory.

Your Lady Colts hosted Haverford in the first round of the PIAA 6A State playoffs. The team battled hard in the first half and went into halftime with a narrow 16 – 14 lead. Your Colts extended that lead to 12 points early in the 4th quarter and then hung on for a hard fought 36 – 27 victory.
Olivia Jones led the team in scoring with 13 points (3 – 4 free throws). She was also co-leader in rebounds with 5 and in steals with 2. Sydney Weyant added 8 points (2 – 3 pointers) and 2 rebounds. Taylor Ferraro finished her night with 6 points (1 – 3pointer), 3 rebounds, and 2 steals. Sam Reilly also scored 6 points and was co-leader in assists with 2. Meghan Schraeder was co-leader in rebounds with 5 and scored 1 point. Finishing out the Lady Colts stats were Kathryn Sansom – 2 points and Ryan Kaercher & Bryn Cravener each recorded 3 rebounds.

Your Lady Colts took on Archbishop Carroll, the top seed out of District 12 in the second round of the PIAA 6A State playoffs. After a scoreless first 4-minutes for both teams, your Colts jumped out to an early 8 – 0 lead. The team took a 26 – 16 lead into halftime. The second half featured numerous runs by both teams. In the end, your Lady Colts were victorious by a score of 47 – 44 after Carroll missed 3 shots in the final seconds to tie the game.
Olivia Jones led the team in scoring with 17 points (7 – 11 free throws), in rebounds with 11 and in assists with 3. Taylor Ferraro added 10 points (1 – 3pointer), 4 rebounds and 2 assists. Sydney Weyant hit some timely 3’s to extend the lead and finished with 9 points (3 – 3 pointers). Sam Reilly finished her night with 6 points and 5 rebounds. Ryan Kaercher chipped in with 3 points and 4 rebounds. Meghan Schraeder played big in the paint, while scoring 2 points and grabbing 2 rebounds. Bryn Cravener was her typical feisty self and combined with Taylor, helped keep Archbishop Carroll’s D1 point guard commit in check.

Your Lady Colts took on Pennsbury, the #3 seed out of District 1 in the quarterfinal round of the PIAA 6A State playoffs. The team was down 6 points midway through the second quarter but went on a 7 – 0 run to finish out the half with the lead 15 – 14. The Colts extended that lead to 29 – 23 at the end of the third quarter. The fourth quarter was an intense back and forth struggle but in the end the team made 7 – 8 free throws to seal the victory 42 – 36.
Taylor Ferraro led the team in scoring with 18 points (2 – 3 pointers) and she also grabbed 3 rebounds. Olivia Jones led the team in rebounds with 9, scored 13 points and dished out 4 assists. Sam Reilly led the team in assists with 5, in steals with 3 and also chipped in 5 points. Sydney Weyant finished her night with 4 points (1 – 3 pointer), pulled down 2 rebounds and had 2 assists. Ryan Kaercher added 5 rebounds and 2 points. Meghan Schraeder and Bryn Craverner stepped in and contributed quality minutes to help secure the win!
